Technical Writer / Lending Policy Expert

Atlantic Bay is seeking a Business Writer / Lending Policy Expert to join our team!  


The Lending Policy Expert will assist Atlantic Bay’s Operations in the development and production of policy and standard operating procedures. Utilizing mortgage technical writing skills, the Lending Policy Expert will create and update procedural documents with limited or no supervision, post or distribute various documentation via the intranet or by email, facilitate and take minutes for committee meetings, and be responsible for creating, maintaining, and archiving company documentation. Candidates must have the ability to handle complex projects independently. 

As a liaison to the other departments and lines of businesses, the Lending Policy Expert will work closely with Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group employees, as well as interview various department heads and subject matter experts as the project dictates to gather the necessary information to create quality company reference documents.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years mortgage industry experience, with strong technical or business writing and editing skills, and the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable of mortgage sales and operations document creation, particularly policies and procedures, and have a strong understanding of mortgage compliance rules and regulations and Lending guidelines. Having a strong working knowledge of lending guidelines and compliance is crucial to success in this position.


  • Prior mortgage industry experience is required; at least 5 years
  • Previous experience writing policies, procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP), or training materials for the mortgage industry is strongly desired
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Must be able to handle large projects independently, and is self-directed
  • Ability to learn complex processes quickly
  • Excellent at writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software, processes, industry changes quickly and as necessary
  • Ability to interpret and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures to different audiences and make clear presentations of facts or ideas.
